RuBot II – The Rubik’s cube solving robot.
http://www.mechatrons.com
Read this before you comment! This is the new version of RuBot by Pete Redmond from Dublin, Ireland. It’s very different to the prototype but it has to be the coolest looking robot solver ever. RuBot II set a new Guinness world Record in Jan 2009. Check out the other videos and the faq at www.mechatrons.com. There are cameras in the eyes of the head that scan the cube before the pneumatic arms solve it. It usually solves the Cube in about 35 seconds (not including the scan) no matter how much it is mixed up.
The solving algorithm is taken care of by Herbert Kociemba’s Cube Explorer software and usually solves the cube in a maximum of about 20 moves. In this video, the cube wasn’t mixed up too hard so RuBot was able to find the optimum solution.
Thanks to all of those who think it is too good to be true. That is a real compliment! If you still don’t believe it, Look at the other RuBot videos – they have better scrambles. Or better still, call in on one of RuBot’s live demonstrations. By the way, that’s my daughter in the clip with RuBot. She was just starting to grow her hair long so it does look a little odd. You should see her now.

Rubik’s Cube Mosaic
BASED ON THE WORK OF “RUBIKCUBISM” BY SPACE-INVADER. If you get a chance, check out the original artist online who first started doing artwork with rubik’s cube. I give full credit to him for being the first to come up with the concept of working with rubik’s cube to create portraits of people.
Special Thanks to DAN BROWN, for showing me how to solve the rubik’s cube in a two-part video. If you get a chance check out his channel.

Special Thanks to Derek Barrington for making the music to my video and editing it.
Yes, I rotated every single rubik’s cube to the project. First thing before I started working on the project was learn how to solve it. After that, then I knew how the rubik’s can be used to my advantage for the project and make a portrait.
I DID NOT BREAK THE CUBES, OR PEEL THE STICKERS. In all, there are 336 rubik’s cubes and the project is 4ft in length and 3ft in height.

ARM Powered Nokia and LEGO Rubik’s Cube Solver
This Rubik’s Cube solver was designed and programmed using a Nokia N95 mobile phone, a LEGO Mindstorms NXT and lots of yellow LEGO technic pieces!
This is a Java application running on the Nokia N95. This communicates with the NXT using a simple control program via Bluetooth. The embedded camera in the N95 is used to capture an image of each face of the cube. The application then processes these images to determine the colour of each piece of the cube. Then the solution is worked out in a couple of seconds resulting in a sequence of approximately 30 moves. The N95 then transmits these moves one at a time to the NXT to solve the puzzle. This normally takes 3-4 minutes in real-time.

How to Solve a Rubik’s Cube – Part 2 – Bottom White Corners
Link to Step 3:

Do you NOT see the upside down T’s? Other Problems?
Then Watch this clarification video:

You must look on the top layer for corners which have a white color on the side (not top or bottom faces). Once you have found (or corrected using the R T180 Ri), you must match the other adjacent color to white (not on top again, but on the side) with its corresponding color diagonally.
Now hold the center of the color that you just matched the white corner diagonally with and the white sticker should either be on the left or right face. Then you must perform the following moves: If white facing left, do Li Ti L (Li = left quarter turn counter-clockwise, L = left quarter turn clockwise), If white facing right, do R T Ri.
You must do this for all four corners. IMPORTANT: When fixing corner pieces which have white facing UP,you must place it above the last empty corner space on bottom before doing the R T180 Ri or Li T180 L moves. IMPORTANT: you should NEVER be looking at the white color when you are placing it down, you should always be holding the center piece of the other color on the side with white while placing the corner piece.
After you have placed all 4 BOTTOM WHITE CORNERS, you should see upside down COLOR T’s on the 4 sides of the cube (not top or bottom). If you do NOT have these T’s, that means you DID NOT match the corner pieces properly with its side color BEFORE using the 3 moves (up, towards you, down). Match the color on the ADJACENT SIDE of WHITE with its respective center. Then, while holding that center towards you, you must see whether the corner piece is now on the LEFT or RIGHT of that center piece. If on RIGHT, do R T Ri. If on LEFT, do the Li Ti L move. Watch the video for demonstration.
ATTENTION: I WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO LET ME KNOW WHETHER THEY WERE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THIS STEP, SINCE IT IS A LITTLE TRICKY. I WAS THINKING OF POSTING AN ADDITIONAL VIDEO, SO PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS OR SEND ME A MESSAGE TO MY INBOX LETTING ME KNOW WHETHER AN ADDITIONAL VIDEO WOULD HELP YOU OUT. THANK YOU!!!
