How do you find contractor jobs in financial services? ?

I currently work in financial services as a broker but want to find out about contracting jobs. I have a friend who has less qualifications than me ie F.P.C.12&3 that deals with bank complaints. He didn’t have any knowledge of this type of job before he started. I want to work in or around London, so if anyone could let me know how I would go about it please let me know!

By contracting,do you mean working for a company but not as an employee of that company or do u mean the legal side of things? if it is the former, then, building your own company website and registering yourself as a company could be a starting point, that way they can search for you and u can start working for yourself. You could also contact agencies cos they are good at matching you with the job. You will have that flexibility of moving from one contract to the next, not stuck with one company. If your question is regards to contracts, then I haven’t got a clue.

How do you find the volume of a cube with the total surface area?

The exact question:
The total surface area of a cube is 121.5cmsquared. What is its volume?

OK the total surface area is 121.5 cm squared
A cube has 6 identical faces sp the area of each face is 121.5 divided by 6 = 20.25 cm squared
As each face is a square, and as area is found by multiplying length by width and length and width are identical , they can be found by finding the square root of 20.25 = 4.5.
The volume can be found by multiplying length by width by depth = 20.25 * 4.5. = 91.125

Volume of cube is therefore 91.125 cc.(cubic centimetres)

Hope this helps

Financial planning suggestions?

I manage my college expenses with 3 credit cards and pay my credit bills with them. This is cumbersome and I can’t remember if there’s enough cash to pay the bills at that point of time. I badly need to do some financial planning. Any idea / suggestions?

Track all of your purchases and the amount of money you have in the bank… either by hand, with a spreadsheet on your computer, or through an online tracking program, like one of these:

How do I transfer US investments to Canada w/out losing it all to taxes?

My US investments have rebounded but I’m living in Canada and would like to "cash out". Anyone have experience with cross-border tranfers etc?

If you don’t cash it out, but transfer the investments themselves (i.e. stocks, bonds, mutual funds) from one brokerage firm to another, there is no disposition, and therefore no tax.

You will have to file a form (or the brokerage firm will for you) to declare a cross-border transaction valued at more than $10,000.

Other than than, it’s pretty simple. "Pushing" (giving your new account information to the old account institution and requesting the transfer directly from them) is easier than "pulling" (asking the new account institution to request the transfer from the old institution).

Oh, and it’s a bit nerve-wracking, as you lose control of the investments (i.e. can’t sell them) while the transfer process is ongoing, which can take over a month!… But none of us panic-sell anyway, right? ;)
